Celebration of the Incarnation...

Christmas cards, especially "religious" ones are either so stuffy you can feel and smell their bad breath or so fluffy sweet, they gag you. For this, I really just tried to produce good art.

I just finished up on this Christmas card design for New Reformation Press and I'm pretty stoked on it. I'm a huge fan of Albrecht Durer, (thanks mostly to my college drawing professor) and some of the old printmakers. I tried to mimic the look of his woodcuts, consulting his work constantly throughout. I also attempted to give this an aged, old, texturey look.

I actually did all the images separately, and then put it together at varying opacities in Photoshop. This was a fun, but challenging project to work on.

You can order the cards in bundles of 12 here at New Reformation Press.

Very nice. I love how it evokes the old engraving style and yet is very fresh as well.
