What Do All These Drawings Have in Common?

Absolutely nothing.

Except for the fact that each was a drawing I did for my immediate coworkers for Christmas.
The bird/nature drawings were each inspired by some pen and ink drawings done by quardipilegic Joni Ericson Tada.

The characters are an elf/yard gnome, Spock, Martin Luther, Ralphy from "A Christmas Story", and a dang Smurf.

It makes me wonder who would come out on top if all of these characters were in the wrong place at the wrong time and ended up getting in a fistfight.

Here's a quick drawing I did for a real life hero. My friend Kirt, who's on his way to Iraq to serve as an Army chaplain. Keep this guy and his family in your prayers.

Moses...Big Man on Campus

Here's a somewhat humorous illustration I did recently for Campus Life magazine's 2007 Guide to Choosing a Christian College.

One thing that I enjoyed about this was experimenting a bit with adding texture to the building and the pavement. The clouds were real clouds that I took photos of, then pasted the black and white image into an alpha channel in Photoshop, loaded it as a selection, and then gradually painting it in on its own layer.
