Very rarely do I get the chance to fully immerse my heart, mind and soul so freely and enjoyably as I did in this freelance project. My good friend Chad from the band Homeless J asked me to do some art for the cover of their new album.
He gave me some image ideas and some of his meaning behind some songs. He sent me some mp3s that I literally listened to every single day for about a week and a half. Particularly as I lay in bed drifting off to sleep. What I find so very interesting about the creative process is how much of it happens in the subconscious mind.
Finally, on a saturday morning, as I sat sit looking though a Dave McKean graphic novel while waiting for my daughters to get out of ballet class, the image came to me.
It started out as a simple and loose pencil sketch I did in 2 parts. All the rest I did with photos and in Photoshop.
Loved it.
